Time, they say, is money but I think that’s an understatement. This is because like Arnold Bennett said, “Time is a great deal more than money. If you have time you can get money usually. But though you have the wealth of a cloak-room attendant at the Carlton Hotel, you cannot buy yourself a minute more time than I have, or than the cat by a fire has.” Time is the singular commodity in the entire universe that places all men in the same class. The rich does not have more nor does the poor have less. It is such a mysterious and incredible asset. You can neither store nor stop it. You cannot borrow from tomorrow’s time. You cannot lend to your friend. No one can steal your time. It is kept for you.
You cannot hasten time neither can you slow it down. It will take its course. Your best bet is to keep pace with time. You must understand and know what you ought to do at a particular time. Your life will be full of stress when you keep doing the right thing at the wrong time or the wrong thing at the right time. Life is only fulfilling when the right thing is done at the right time. It’s why it is often said, “There is time for everything.” Once you miss a particular time, it’s gone forever. You may have another opportunity but not the one you missed.
Time was created to fulfill purpose. There is a raison d’etre for your life. We are all in time for a season because of a reason. A life without purpose abuses time. He’ll keep misusing his seconds which amounts to the minutes of his life. The minutes soon become hours. Hours turn into days, days become weeks and weeks turn into months which eventually add up to the years of his life. Soon, the sweet sixteen becomes the sickly sixty. And the way life is, one day you’ll just wake up and ask yourself where did the years go! This is why you cannot afford to risk your life in frivolities. You’ve got to find that unique niche you’re supposed to occupy on the earth. Don’t be submerged in the second life mythology. You have only one life to live. There is no other life on this planet earth after this one.
Give it time then if you haven’t found your purpose. Make time to find out what your time is supposed to be spent for. Don’t live your life fulfilling someone else’s dream at the cost of yours. Don’t be lost in the world’s hustle and bustle. Don’t say you’re busy. Being busy is irrelevant if it’s in the wrong thing. You need time to think, pray, consult and find out what you’re created to do. The problem is some folks are just too lazy to do the mental work. It’s why they do a lot of physical work that yields so little. You’ve got to make time, sit down and think through until you come out with an answer. If you make time, you will hear the voice of your passions and dreams. Destiny will beckon during those quite wee hours of the night. You will be surprised at the incredible potentials in your gifts and talents. Cut off all the parasites that keep usurping time. Give it time.
Give it time if you have found your purpose. It is one thing to find your purpose; it is another to fulfill it. And the primary resource for purpose fulfillment is not money but time. Invest quality time in bleeding hard work until you begin to see the fruits of your labors. Nothing happens automatically; you’ve got to give it time. If you believe it, you’ll invest the best of time into it. The quality of time you invest into your assignment is directly proportional to the quality of result you’ll get. It is the investment of quality time that will translate you from finding purpose to fulfilling it. So, give it time.
Give it time if you have a task at hand. Give it time now else you’ll be under pressure at later time. The time you fail to give it now will still be given. Haste and hurry are the symptoms of a life that lacks concentration. It’s now getting late because you spent all your time doing things that were less important. You could have finished that work if not for distractions from Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, BBM and African Magic. Its time you learn how to place your priorities right. Its time you know the value of time. A second used appropriately can change your destiny. Its time you break this jinx of procrastination. Kill that thing that keeps telling you, “You can do it later. You still have all the time.” You don’t have all the time and you have learnt this by experience. It’s why you keep looking for oil for your flickering light at the eleventh hour. I’m afraid the door might be shut against you. I have personally learnt that failure in life’s daily task cumulate into failure in life’s ultimate task. So, give it time.
Give it time if you have sown and it seems the harvest is not coming. Your seed needs time to germinate and grow before you can reap the harvest. There is the seed-time and the harvest time. These are two different times on opposite ends. I know the challenge of waiting until the harvest comes but there is nothing you can do about it. It’s the natural design. Instead of being overly agitated by the harvest, why not spend this time weeding and watering your seed. Remember that sowing is not enough a guarantee for a good harvest. You’ve got to nurture your seed unto maturity. And hope your seed is good? A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. And hope you are planting on a good and right ground? I can assure you that those who wept as they planted their crops will gather the harvest with joy! Those who wept as they went out carrying the seed will come back singing for joy, as they bring in the harvest. So, give it time.
Give it time if you now expect an important event in your life. I know you really wish it happens now. Things seem to be happening in rapid succession for your friends and neighbors but yours seemed delayed. My counsel is give it time and time will definitely bring it to you. This delay is no denial. It’s a detour for a better delivery. In the course of time what looks so far away from you will be at your finger tips. Don’t be lost in the euphoria of expectation at the cost of preparation. The quality of your preparation is actually the evidence of your expectation. Engage this time planning and preparing for the anticipated event. The vision is still for the fixed time, and it is moving quickly to the end. Even if it is slow in coming, go on waiting for it; because it will certainly come, it will not be kept back. Therefore, give it time.
Give it time when you go through a trying time. We all have our seasons of trial but you need to understand that they are meant to elevate you. No student is promoted except he’s been tested. Its examination time and you’ve got to pass so you can go to the next class in life. I know you are desperate to get over it. You want to put everything behind you. Time seems slower than usual and you wish it moves a little faster. Friend, time will take its course. You’ve got to go manfully through this season of your life. you can’t take a short cut except you want to be cut short. This is the same way every man who has emerged to be someone important took. You should endure with the end in view. The joy that is set before you should reduce the stress of the journey. The sufferings of this present are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to you and in you! So, give it time.
Give it time if you are hurting or wounded. Such is life; we often hit our foot against the stone. We are constantly reminded of the mistakes we made and the wrong decisions we took. At other times, the one you trusted breaks your heart. You are jilted, abused or disappointed. Now, it seems the wounds will never heal. The shadows of the past haunt you. You feel the pain and the horror of dashed hopes. The night looks so dark; it’s never going to break forth into a new day. I can assure you that time heals. I have had wounds on my legs that got healed without applying any medication. It’s the testimony to the healing power of time. This is why I’m telling you to give it time. With time, “you shall forget your misery; you shall remember it as waters that pass away. And your life shall be clearer than the noonday and rise above it; though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning. And you shall be secure and feel confident because there is hope; yes, you shall search about you, and you shall take your rest in safety. You shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; yes, many shall sue for your favor.” So, give it time.
Friends, it matters what you are giving your time to. Time will test and tell us. Time will judge and prove to us the quality of life you have lived. You may give an impression of a serious person but time will show your real stuff. We’ll also give it time. So, I’ll counsel you to maximize the moment. Make the most of every opportunity. This is my little piece of advice and hope it’ll help you — give it time!
I love you.
